Difference in LED-strips
The diversity and choice of LED strips on the market is enormous. Some common LED strips are strips with SMD 3528, SMD 5050, SMD2835.
Difference
The SMD 3528, SMD 5050 and SMD 2835 are so named because of the size of the LED chips. The LED chips of the 3528 are 3.5 x 2.8 mm and that of the 5050 LED strip 5.0 x 5.0 mm. With the 2835, the LED chips are 2.8x 3.5mm. The SMD 5050 have 3 LED chips in a housing, hence also called tri-chips and give a 3x greater light output than the 3528 LED strips. SMD2835 is a new type of LED chip that has more than twice the light output of the standard SMD3528 LED chips. This makes this new generation 2835 LED strip ideal for applications where a high light output and high color fastness are required.
The 5050 LED strips are ideal for, for example, illuminating areas that may be subject to ambient light. The 3 LED chips in the 5050 LED strip can produce 3 different colors so that millions of color variations are possible. The SMD LED strips 3528, on the other hand, only has one LED per light source and can therefore only display 1 color. Furthermore, the strips have a difference in width, the 3528 LED strip is 8 mm wide, the 5050 LED strip 10 mm and the 2835 is also 10 mm wide.
Voltage
LED strips are available in 12V and 24V, but also in other voltages. However, the 12 and 24 volts are the most common. The current limitation of the LEDs is determined by the resistors soldered on the strips and which are in series with a number of LEDs. 24V LED strips have some advantages over the 12V LED strips. The 24V LED strip uses half less power than a 12V LED strip, which means that there is less voltage drop across the LED strip. Because they are less sensitive to voltage drops, the strip can be longer in length. For power supply from 230 VAC, a separate power supply is always required that converts 230V to 12V or 24V.
Assemble
Mounting LED strips is very easy. There are various ways to attach or mount it. The type IP20 (indoor) and IP64 (protected) LED strips are provided with an adhesive strip with 3M tape with which you can easily mount the LED strip. It is also possible to mount these LED strips in an aluminum LED strip profile. The profiles are available for both construction and installation purposes.
LuxaLight strips
The LuxaLight LED strips are equipped with A-quality LEDs and the PCB (Printed circuit board) contains more copper, whereby the heat is dissipated better than with standard LED strips. In addition, there is less stress drop and the strip is mechanically a lot stronger.
